Services / One to One Tutorials

You might prefer to learn how to conduct your own research but don't quite know how to make a start and take that first step.

We provide either a one on one tutorial service in your own home or the service can be extended to include a small number of family or friends to be taught as a group. The tutorials are delivered by a professional genealogist with more than 30 years of genealogical research experience together with 13 years of genealogical teaching experience with an appropriate teaching qualification in teaching adult learners.

Tutorials are personalised to the individual or the group and can be delivered with or without the use of computers. However, in today's fast moving on-line environment the Internet and the many genealogical data websites that are now available means that many aspects of research can now be conducted in a fraction of the time that was possible 30, 20 or even 10 years ago.

Naturally this service can only be available for people within a reasonable distance from our office base in York. Generally speaking we will journey anywhere within a 50 miles radius of York and this equates to almost the whole of the county of Yorkshire . However, please don't allow the 50 miles radius put you off making contact with us, from time to time we have made special arrangements for individuals who live beyond this radius.

Prior to making a decision to have research tutorials delivered in your home it would be a good idea to discuss your requirements over a phone call, details of which you will find on our Contact Us page. Alternatively, send us a message using our Make Enquiry input page and providing us with your phone number and a best time to call you and we will call you.

The fees for the tutorial service are based on the same hourly rate as for our hourly research service with the exception that a minimum of four hours needs to be purchased for a tutorial...see Our Fees page.
